Mommy Obsession: Honest

Last year, way before I thought I would be sitting here with Riley in my lap, I was introduced to a company revolutionizing the approach to caring for your family. In a society full of labels, it can be almost impossible to know if what a package says is accurately representing what is inside. "Natural", "Sensitive", and "Fragrance Free" are common products labels that aren't always telling the truth. Sean and I both have very sensitive skin so we have always been careful with what we use, naively trusting what the bottle said. The Honest Company was created by Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan out of their need to find products that were healthy enough for their families. Not only did they create an entire line of natural, chemical-free, and eco-friendly family products that is growing constantly, they are also beautiful products that I love looking at everyday.

Since I became pregnant with Riley we have slowly transitioned our entire home into Honest products and could not be happier with the results. I love the subtle natural smells and the way they actually work. There is nothing worse than putting on lotion and having it create a outer skin layer instead of simply moisturizing your skin. Or wiping down your counters and having your house smell like you live in a forest for 3 days. And really, who can resist a purple leopard diaper on a baby?

Speaking of their diapers, I would have them shipped from the moon if that was the only way to get them. At various times we have used other brand-name diapers on Riley and they were awful--- no comparison to Honest! Honest diapers are way more absorbent, softer, and stay on much better than any other diaper we have come across. And for a mom who doesn't have the resources to successfully use reusable diapers, the ability to create a much smaller carbon footprint with our diapers is a major plus on top of being able to put skulls, leopard, and flowers on my precious girls tooshie everyday!

Jessica Alba also recently wrote a book, The Honest Life, a guide to living a fun, clean, healthy lifestyle effortlessly with your family. If you haven't picked it up yet, I highly recommend it. Sometimes you don't realize how easy some healthy swaps in your life can be until they are screaming at you from the pages of a book, at least for me anyway.

happy honest baby
