At the Blink of an Eye

No matter how many times I hear that babies grow at the blink of an eye, I never believe it. Until I look back at pictures from just a few short weeks ago and realize my baby is growing like a weed! At just 5 1/2 months it amazes me how much she has changed since we brought her home. I am trying to cherish every little squeak, kick, and spit up but it is definitely a challenge to stay in the moment when I'm covered in spit up or realizing her diaper is emitting a deathly smell. She is mastering new skills so fast it barely even hits me how quickly she is developing. Her time as an infant is fleeting and before I know it she is going to be up and running, literally.

Having mastered rolling over from her tummy to her back and pushing her chest up off the ground, little Riley is giving it all her might to move her body across the floor. Right now, she is resorting to the tummy drag. I bet she'll be crawling by July, yikes!

Trying so hard to crawl for that monkey

Anything in arms reach goes into her mouth

We can't leave anything near her!

One of her new favorite games is to sit in her Exersaucer and throw anything she can onto the floor and see if she can get us to pick it back up for her. I guess it's the little things in life.

After weeks of her intently staring at us anytime we put something to our mouth, Riley has officially starting eating solids. She is loving the tastes but struggling to get it down into her tummy. Poor thing has had to deal with the nasty taste of her special girl formula, I think she is relieved to be getting something yummy into her mouth for a change!

First bite of carrots and loved it

She begged me to give her this banana I was eating and then didn't want to give it up

For now, at least, she still finds me amusing
