Her first interaction with the park. I wish I could have captured how HUGE her eyes were with excitement and fascination!

Being in Manhattan, there aren't many opportunities to sit in a quiet place and listen to birds chirping and trees rustling. Since we don't have the luxury of having a backyard, we try to treat the parks like they are our backyard. This is difficult with a baby (seriously, the amount of stuff we have to take out on outings is insane) and Rory not being allowed in any of the parks (I mean, really, how dumb is it to not let dogs near any of the grass in lower Manhattan. MEAN.) It is so nice to get outside and enjoy the fresh air with the breezes coming off the Hudson, especially after the hibernating we did this winter.

We took Shelley to the park when she was here visiting!
With the recent addition of our jogging stroller, Sean and I have started taking long family runs up to the Pier 45 park in West Village and working out in the grass with Riley. It's nice to get out of the neighborhood a little and enjoy a workout on the water together. Riley and I have also been doing a baby bootcamp in the park with a group of neighborhood moms for a few months. It has been really fun to meet a bunch of other moms and suffer through a brutal workout together with our babies. It is so hard to find time to exercise while taking care of a baby so having that community where we are all watching the kids and getting in a workout, that is completely flexible to the needs of the babies, is so amazing.

Rory likes to tag along whenever we let him

Looking forward to many more summer days laying in the grass with this little munchkin girl!
