rory's first snow day

Finally, on Saturday, we woke up to real snow on the ground! It was so much fun to walk around our new neighborhood with Rory watching the snow fall. Rory loved playing in the snow! But once it melted, he was not such a fan.

so nice to wake up to this on saturday morning

so excited to go outside and play in the snow.
he could barely stand still waiting for the elevator!

snow is NOT so yummy

stuck his ENTIRE face in a snow pile.

sean and rory were not big fans of the ultra-warm snow suit.

lots of love,

studio tip: dr. bronner's

If you haven't tried Dr. Bronner's Magic All-One Soaps yet, you are crazy!

After going through many, many different kinds of body soaps, and hating every single one, we finally found this. Well, actually, a model friend recommended it. For $4, this bottle puts every other beauty product to shame. I had always overlooked it, thinking it sounded like a gigantic scam. But alas, I was wrong! We prefer the peppermint flavor, but they make an array including lavender and lemon. My skin has never looked or felt better in my entire life and the peppermint is a great way to wake up in the morning!

buy it. now. you won't regret it.

and rory makes three!

After a very abnormal (for us) Saturday night out, we set out for some good hangover food and a long walk through the West Village Sunday afternoon. Little did we know that on that walk, we would fall in love with our new baby. As soon as we saw this little red face staring up at us we knew he belonged in our family. After playing with him for about 30 minutes, and debating whether or not he really was "the one" (or if were just feeling crazy and impulsive), we decided that, YES, he was "the one" and we are crazy and impulsive (on rare occasions!). So off we went. He was ours! This new little baby Brussels Griffon bundle of joy was the new addition to our family! We brought him home, with tons of toys and puppy supplies in tow.
Rory is a name we picked out months ago when we first started talking about adding a little redheaded puppy to our clan. "Rory" is Gaelic for "Red King", is the name of golfer Rory McIlroy, and a lifetime favorite TV Character to Kasey, Rory Gilmore. What's better? Oh yea, nothing! We knew immediately that this little face was Rory!
He has been such joy so far, has a load of personality, and already loves playing fetch with Sean! We can't wait for the adventures that lie ahead with this little man!

Rory loves walking outside with his sweater on!

It's only natural that he knows who the best team is.

He loves snoozing next to us.

lots of love,

a family surprise!

We get so frustrated living across the country from both of our families. We're young and working hard to build our careers and do not get to visit them as much as we wish. It is the worst part about living in this wonderful city!
After weeks and weeks of trying to decide what to get the Madgett's for Christmas, we decided, on December 23rd, that all we wanted for Christmas and all we wanted to get them for Christmas, was to fly to Seattle.
Once the tickets were booked, operation Lie-to-the-Madgett's ensued! We had to throw everyone off about their Christmas present! We decided to say that we had ordered something for their new lake house and it wouldn't be delivered until New Year's Eve. As the week went on, more and more questions came. The day of, we were both panicking about whether or not they would figure out when neither of us would be reachable while on the plane! It might have been the longest 6-hour flight ever!
As soon as we landed we jumped in the car and anxiously rode out to the house. It had just snowed so it was taking much longer than anticipated to get home. As we pulled up to the house, we could see Mom's face in the window, looking very confused about why a car was pulling in. When she came to the front door, Sean stepped out of the car, and confusion erupted! "SEAN?!" It was so exciting to surprise Mom and Meaghan initially! Dad was still at work, celebrating with co-workers, so we sat waiting for him to come home and surprise him.
Finally, we heard the garage door open. We sat in the dimly lit living room as he walked in and started chatting with Mom and Meaghan, not even noticing us! Meaghan eventually cracked and announced that his Christmas present was in the living room. When Dad turned around, the look on his face made every second of travel worth it!
It was so nice to spend 3 long days at home with them, talking about life, visiting the lake house, and celebrating the New Year! It was so hard to get on that red-eye Monday evening! It was the best surprise and we wish we could pull off something like that again and again!

lots of love,
kasey + sean
